Demand better for the NHS

Last year the NHS celebrated its 70th birthday but at no time in its existence has its future been more in doubt. The number of cancelled operations is growing, whilst waiting times are on the increase. Leeds NHS Trust is ranked 89th out of 131 trusts for the time it takes to be treated in A&E – as the hospitals struggled to cope.
The Conservatives are failing to give our doctors and nurses the support they need.

Meanwhile the Labour Party, who started the crisis through privatisation, have failed to come up with a costed plan to fix our NHS.
Health campaigner Kamran Hussain said: “We urgently need more resources for our NHS and only the Lib Dems are offering that right now.

Campaigning for an exit from Brexit

Kamran Hussain is passionate about Europe and was humbled to have led the EU Referendum Campaign for Yorkshire and Humber Liberal Democrats.

According to Kamran, voting to leave was a huge blow to the dreams and aspirations of many in this country including the young.

Reflecting back on the referendum campaign, Kamran said, “When Leave was campaigning for Britain to leave the European Union, they were talking about tighter border controls and a future in which Britain opened trade doors to the world. However, the reality is very different.

As the Conservative Government remains divided and without a coherent plan, they provide conflicting views as to what Brexit will look like.

Campaigning for a fair deal for Yorkshire

Kamran Hussain and The Yorkshire and Humber Liberal Democrats have launched a new campaign calling for a ‘Fair Deal for Yorkshire’. The campaign centres around bringing power back to Yorkshire from London and would involve a new proportionally elected devolved regional authority to make use of these powers.

Kamran and the Liberal Democrats believe that Yorkshire and Humber Region is falling behind other parts of the UK. London, Greater Manchester and the West Midlands all have a devolution deal with the Conservative Government that delivers billions of pounds in funding and greater powers.
